Haoning Fu | Head Coach
Coach Hao founded the Dry Ice team with his enthusiasm on Robotics and 15 years of software engineering experience. He not only coached engineering techniques, principles and ethics, but also built healthy environments for the growth of leadership and personalities. He likes classical music and is trying to teach himself violin. His biggest hobby is writing science fictions and had published a story. He has plenty of stories to tell us. Perhaps, his team will be some of the heroes in his next science fiction book.
Frank | Software CoachCoach Frank has been in the software industry for 20 years with master’s degrees in both EE and CS. He has worked at many software startups and corporations in the SF bay area. Besides work, Frank loves to build robots and toys with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, such as music-controlled Christmas Lights and remote-controlled pet feeders. He will assist Coach Hao in developing team projects.

Yan Ma | Adult Mentor
Yan is a senior scientist and currently lead drug discovery projects in a Pharmaceutical company. Her involvement with Dry Ice started in 2015. This year she is particularly involved in mentoring Dry Ice Robotics to write the engineering notebook in a more professional way. She also coordinates parent efforts to support different aspects of team activities. She loves to work with high schoolers to foster their creative and scientific thinking and to help them reach their greatest potential.
Chun Yang | 2nd Coach
Coach Chun has been with the Dry Ice team since its founding in 2015 and been servicing the team in various capacities over the years. Coach Chun enjoys hands-on learning with the team through building the robots and participating in FTC competitions and outreach activities as well as spreading of the engineering principles and technical know-hows to the new generations of engineers and scientists. Coach Chun is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of Institute of Navigation (ION).

Larry Liu | Adult Mentor
Larry’s involvement with Dry Ice started in 2017. With his background of material science and engineering, marketing and entrepreneur experience, he offers service to the team in business aspects. He founded ProTech Materials, a manufacturing company to supply engineered materials for applications in high tech industries. Larry appreciates the opportunity to help Dry Ice team members to grow leadership capacity and to develop well rounded life capabilities. He is an active choir member and enjoys music.
