Maker Faire 2018 by Kevin Ren
The Maker Faire is an annual festival hosted in many cities all across the world. At these events, people can bring and demonstrate all types of things that they made. These usually range from new innovative technology to models of classical structures. Being one of the two largest Maker Faires in the world, the Bay Area Maker Faire traditionally has a booth reserved for First robotics. Each year, 16 FTC teams would compete in this offseason tournament.
When we went to Maker Faire on the first day, we did really well, winning all of our matches! We won many of our matches by a large margin. Our robot and autonomous worked very well and got full cipher and both relics consistently. However, most of our driver team couldn’t go on the second day, so we lost 2 out of 3 matches.
We still managed to make it to the finals, but because of the lack of a driver team, we didn’t do as well and didn’t get relics while only completing one crypto box. Even though we lost the finals and only got 2nd place, in the end, we still had fun and made friends with other teams in a more casual environment.
